Travels

We have had a busy couple of weeks! First we went down to St. George for our niece Gracie's baptism. It was really fun to be a part of her special day.

Then Landon and I headed back to St. George couple of days later. I had a work training for a couple of days, so I decided to go (they are still being really flexible, so it was optional) so that Landon could have some serious one on one time with his Grandma and Grandpa Terry (and to keep up with the whole career-thing ... you know). During the day when I had meetings and dinners he played with them. I was nervous ... even though I was technically staying with him, and I stopped by a couple of times during the day it was the longest I had ever been apart from him. I was expecting tears ... or at least a really excited reunion every time I came back. Is that what I got? Nope. He was perfectly happy just playing. He would smile and flap his arms when he saw me ... and then go back to playing as if it wasn't a big deal.

Seriously.

It made me really happy that he was having so much fun - and getting one on one time that is hard to get when we live a few hours a way. Jeff really missed both of us (and we missed him SO much!!) so that made me feel better!

Then when we got home Jeff had planned a night away for the two of us for our anniversary! I knew Landon would be fine (and after our St. George experience I was even more confident), so on Saturday we dropped him and Grandma and Grandpa Wuthrich's house. He had so much fun again! He played and was entertained and even went out to dinner with them (where he sneezed his green beans all over Aunt Ale :)!). We called a couple of times to see how he was doing ... and the answer was always the same ... he was doing just great.

So when we got home I was really thinking he would have missed us. I mean - it was overnight after all. Nope. We got the same reaction ... a big smile, some arm flapping (it's his "I'm excited" gesture) and then he let us cover him in kisses. And then he went back to playing ... with them. I think he is 6 months going on 16. Apparently two independent-by-nature parents produces an independent baby. It makes me really happy he had so much fun and feels so comfortable both places that he can be happy without us there. But just the teeniest bit sad that he didn't just fall apart with me not there. But I always wanted a baby who loved his grandparents and is well adjusted enough to be without me sometimes ... and I got my wish!

We had a wonderful time! We missed Landon, but it was so much fun to get away for a little while ... and to sleep in!! There is nothing better than an adorable alarm clock in footie pajamas, but every once in a while I wish that alarm clock had a snooze button :)!

We stayed at the Invited Inn in Midway. It is really adorable, and the innkeepers run a great B&B. There were cookies and chocolates everywhere, hors d'oeuvres and a beautiful room! Ours had a fireplace that looked from the bedroom to the bathroom as well as a steam sauna and a dry sauna and a hot tub in the bathroom! And breakfast was to die for ... we highly recommend this place!

We're so grateful to both grandparents who took such good care of Landon for us! He really loves you guys!
