One should never let a hungry pregnant woman go grocery shopping on her own ... she just might walk out with a few unnecessary items ... like a brownie mix and the ingredients for rice krispie treats.
And then she just might forget where she parked and wander around the parking lot for 20 minutes.
It's possible you know .... and never a good idea :)

Preparations
I love how everyone asks if you are "getting ready" for baby. Um, how do I do that exactly? It isn't exactly like planning for a big vacation ... or completing a major project at work ... both of which I can do without thinking. But get ready for a baby ... completely foreign to me. This is what we have done ... We have made all of the big purchases ... and can successfully use the car seat and stroller (we even put in the extra infant cushion)! Jeff painted the nursery yesterday, and it turned out so cute! He's going to put the crib together this weekend - then we'll just need to get the chair delivered and I can finish decorating. So we're getting there on that. We own diapers and wipes ... and have cleared out a whole lot of extra room. The little stuff I am waiting on until closer, since everyone keeps telling me a lot of that is given to a new mom at the shower.
I also have my diaper bag. I looked and looked and just couldn't get happy with a traditional bag ... they are all so cutesy or something. I have to carry this everywhere for quite some time. And anyone who knows me knows how much I love a great purse. Then I found this Timi & Leslie bag ...
Amazing isn't it?! It technically is both a purse and a diaper bag (it has all the accessories). I fell in love. Jeff somehow found out that it wouldn't be a part of the 2010 collection and searched high and low to find me one in black. So now I am the proud owner of a diaper bag. I assure you ... it is even better in person!
So ready? Um, no where CLOSE ... but taking baby steps towards being ready ... definitely!

Love is...
Remember when you used to think that love was all romance, chocolate, romantic dates and getting flowers? I'm still a big believer in all those (and luckily so is Jeff!) but I am also a big believer that love is when you have the stomach flu and he is next to you the whole time ... THAT is real love folks.
And I'm lucky enough to have it.

A Clean Slate
We had a really fun New Years ... we decided to go low-key and celebrate a special 2009 with our favorites from the year. We ate our favorite "new" meal from 2009 - a balsamic vinegar asparagus pasta (delicious). Then we looked through all of our pictures and picked out ones for a new album (clearly I am behind ... I haven't even printed Ireland pics yet!). Then we watched a favorite movie from the year and then did the New Years countdown! We had a wonderful, adventurous 2009 - we were so blessed. I'll admit I was a little sad to let go of such a great year. But we are really excited for 2010 and what it will bring!
We decided to start 2010 with a clean slate. So we spent all (and I do mean ALL) of New Years Day cleaning out and reorganizing our house. Most people would say they wouldn't think we would have a lot to get rid of. Let me just tell you ... at LEAST 15 trips to the dumpster (apparently I hold on to stuff for years after I actually need it), 5 bags of clothes and coats to a family in need, a trip to DI and 12 HOURS later ... our house has never been so fabulously organized. We cleared out a few cabinets for baby-specific items ... and what will be his room (painting begins soon!) ... so I am feeling a lot more prepared space-wise for his arrival. We can't believe how much room we actually have!
Here's to a happy 2010!
